Engagement Sessions

If you’re on the fence on whether to choose and Engagement session or a Bridal portrait session, we highly recommend doing the Engagement session. It gives both of you a chance to get used to being photographed and gives us all a chance to spend some time together. Sound silly? You’ll be surprised at how much easier things flow on the wedding day after a really good Engagement session.

There are several different free locations to choose from: the Capital, Mayfield Park, and the Arboretum. We’ve shot at these several times and they all make beautiful backdrops for either an Engagement or Bridal portrait session. There are also several locations in Austin that are equally as beautiful, but that charge an additional fee: Zilker Botanical Gardens ($50), Umlauf Sculpture Gardens ( $45hr), Laguna Gloria ($?). You will be responsible for paying any additional fees requested by the venue as well as ensuring that they have availability on the day we schedule the shoot. These shoots will take an average of one hour and you’ll probably end up with a little over 100 photos to choose from. Please know that we do not allow anyone to take photos during either an Engagement or Bridal portrait session.

There are several options of what to wear for your shoot. If you’re more of a “jeans and t-shirt” kind of couple, then please feel free to dress casual. Jeans with black shirts photograph great. Any solid, complimentary colors will also look good. If the perfect dress that you had in mind has a print on it, that’ll look great too. Try to keep prints small and complimentary to what each other are wearing. Some couples are going for more of a formal look in their Engagement photo and that’ll look great too. The one thing to keep in mind is to feel comfortable with what you’re wearing.

Bridal Portrait Sessions

Bridal portrait sessions are wonderful because they give you a chance to do a dress rehearsal for your make up, hair and dress. When it’s all said and done, isn’t it fun to think you at least got to wear your dress twice? We can do these at some of the places listed on the Engagement section above.

Bridal portrait sessions usually take about an hour and you’ll end up with a little over 100 photos to choose from. You’ll probably want to arrive a little early to get dressed and you might also want to bring a friend along to help you. Please know that we do not allow anyone to take photos during either an Engagement or Bridal portrait session.
